Joining Clissold Swimming Club
If you are interested in swimming with Clissold, you will need to attend one of our weekly trials so that we can assess your appropriate level of entry. Trial sessions take place every Friday in the training pool at Clissold Leisure Centre from 5.30. to 6.30 pm. The club does have schemes to support membership costs for swimmers where possible and it is our firm intention to ensure that the costs of membership are as low as we can make them. Notes:
1. Members must pay their monthly club fees by standing order, unless there is an extraordinary reason for this not being possible. Payments by any method other than standing order are to be agreed in advance with the Membership Secretary.
2. The annual fee includes ASA registration fees which include insurance. Swimmers can either be registered as Category 2, which is for competitive swimmers and enables them to compete in any level of competition, or as Category 1, which is for learners, non-competitive swimmers or those competing in competitions defined as “low-level”. Category 1 membership should be sufficient for all Improvers and for the majority of Elementary swimmers and many Squad swimmers. However any Squad and Elementary swimmers wishing to compete in Open Meets or in County, District, Regional or National events must be registered as Category 2 members. It is possible to upgrade from Category 1 to Category 2 membership at any time during the year by paying the difference between the two fees.
3. The annual fee is payable between 1st and 31st January each year by current members. It must be paid by those joining during the course of the year at the time of joining, along with the £5 joining fee.
4. Subsidised places are available for children in families on low incomes (in receipt of income support or eligible for free school meals). Proof of eligibility must be provided in writing. Monthly subsidised fees for secondary school age children (Y7 to Y13) are 50% of full fees. Monthly subsidised fees for primary school age children (Y1 to Y6) are currently £2 per month if paid in cash (11 monthly payments) or £1.80 per month if paid by standing order (12 monthly payments). Joining and annual fees are paid at the full rate. Please ask the Membership Secretary for further details if you think you might be eligible for a subsidised place.
