Lenton sets new 100m freestyle record

“Libby Lenton clocked a world record of 53.42sec over 100m freestyle in her semi-final at the Australian Commonwealth Games trials in Melbourne. The time shaved 0.10sec off the mark that had stood to Australian teammate and domestic rival Jodie Henry since the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Athens.

Lenton’s effort marked the second time in two years that she has broken the world record at a semi final at the Australian Championships: at the Olympic trials in 2004, she broke Inge de Buijn’s mark.”
