Jake Prentice hits Triathlon trail

Jake does Triathlon!Jake Prentice in Elementary did well at his first junior triathalon which took place at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate. It was the ChildLine Junior Triathalon, and the event was supported by the NYPtri Triathalon Club and is part of the British Triathalon (Yorkshire and Humberside) regional series. This was the event’s seventh year and hopes to raise funds for ChildLine Charity. Jake has managed to raise approx £130 so far.

It involved a 100m swim, a 2000m bike ride then a 1200m run.

Race: report: There were approx 260 competitors aged from 8 to 17years old. In Jake’s age group (9 & 10 year olds) there were 4 heats and 76 competitors. He was at a slight disadvantage being at least a year younger than some of the competitors. Nevertheless, Jake came 19th in his age-group with a time of 16:03 mins. He was soundly thrashed by 2 blonde-haired amazonian twins but the winner came in with a time of 13:12mins.

Jake’s parents say absolutely loved taking part and found the running part quite tough (hadn’t really practised this part as much though). He’ll definitely do it again next year.
