Masters swimmers from Hackney’s Clissold SC brought home a huge haul of medals from the Essex County Masters Championships held on 8th May at Blackshots Pool in Grays. Fourteen swimmers collected a total of thirty individual medals and four sets of team medals. This included seven gold, eleven silver and 12 bronze medals. Chris Kaethner (55) continued his unbeaten run taking gold in the 50m (35.50s) and 100m breastroke (1 min 23.52s) events. Dorothy Zerdin (39) swimming in her first ever gala took gold in both 100m backstroke (1:37.00) and 100m individual medley (1:30.53). Another debutant, Julian Mayhew (31) won gold in the 100 freestyle (1:24.60). Ellis Ruddick (38) and Laurie Thompson (27) kept up their own high standards with golds in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.45) and 100 backstroke (1:09.46) respectively.
