Open Water swimming to be added to Olympic program in 2008

“The International Olympic Committee’s Executive Board announced Oct. 27 that it will add the men’s and women’s 10K open water races to the Olympic program in Beijing. The decision comes on the heels of requests made by the international swimming federation, FINA, to the Executive Board.”

Beijing seeks Olympic “City Emblem” worldwide

“Beijing has initiated the 2008 ‘City Emblem’ Conceptual Design International Competition and seeks original designs worldwide. Starting from July 25 to August 22, 2005, relevant designing units and individuals can sign up for the competition at the official website of Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning, www.bjghw.gov.cn, according to a local newspaper Beijing Times.”
