The Summer sees the Club Championships over 100 metres in each stroke and Individual Medley. The Festive season sees the Christmas Gala which is a team affair and is open to the whole club from the age of 6 to 106.
The Christmas gala was planned to have 7 teams of 20 swimmers in each, ranging from Improvers 1 up to Squad 4 and Masters. Races were along the lines of an open gala with individual events and relays in groups.
The gala ran to time, the team captains did a marvelous job given the many absences due to the noro-cold going around and everyone enjoyed themselves. The results in reverse order were 7 Green, 6 Orange, 5 Yellow, 4 Indigo, 3 Blue, 2 Red, 1 Violet. All participants received a medal as in the summer every participant receives a tee-shirt.
Club Records
During the course of the year 132 club records were broken, some several times, and some by the same person several times. 19 Different swimmers achieved club records. Aaron, Abi, Adam, Dan, Daniel, Demera, Eve, Fred, Gabriel, Isabel, Jonathan, Luke, Matilda, Matthew, Rene, Sasha, Stevie, Tao and Thomas.
Abi, Adam, Daniel, Eve, Gabriel, Isabel, and Matilda all held onto and improved on a record they achieved last year, and were awarded Red Hats.
Sprint/Middle Distance Awards
In all 229 sprint and middle distance awards were achieved in the year. Some swimmers achieved several awards. The following swimmers got at least one certificate: Kieran, Ciaran, Dan, Tom, Joe, Ben P, Gabriel, Daniel, Raphael, Ivan, Tao, Anthony, Matthew, Max O, Sean, Wean, Miron, Gaspar, James, Max D, Luke W, Fergus, Calum O, Thomas, Ethan, Harry, Sammy, Fred, Arthur, Rene, Adam, Hannah Mac, Ella, Devon, Alice, Beth, Amina, Matilda CJ, Anna, Matilda O’R, Rosie, Hannah MB, Leyla, Inez, Demera, Melika, Kassia, Sadie, Charlotte, Stevie, Marguerite, Billie, Millie, Isabel, Jamilla, Carlotta, Sakinah, Leah, Gemma, Dottie, Grace, Ottilie, Joanna, Adrene, Verena, Eve, Phoebe, Sasha.
Improvers/Elementary awards
Certificates were awarded to 47 swimmers in Improvers and Elementary groups who had taken a series of tests. 26 swimmers who joined the club after September 2008 were not eligible for these awards this time round.
Fastest Girl and Boy – age-weighted.
This was calculated on 50m times over four strokes, compared to ASA times for age group categories.

This was calculated on 50m times over four strokes in comparison with aggregates a year earlier and the varience converted as a percentage.
